A Concise
Introduction to Free and Open Source Software
"If
you're like me, you became fully aware of free and open source software
only gradually, rather than suddenly and all at once. In my case,
the process was somewhat schizophrenic, because I was personally
involved, through my clients, in some of the evolutionary steps of FOSS
itself, and only realized in retrospect how they fit into the whole
picture."

Is Linux
really that hard to use?
"One of the
biggest arguments that windows advocates use against Linux is that it
is hard to use. That is why, they state, windows is so popular and a
default standard in the enterprise world. Windows advocates believe
that Linux is hard to use because all the programs in Linux are
developed by programmers who have no concept of how an average person
uses computers. This means that the user interfaces provided by
programs are confusing and often cryptic with hard to understand,
little or no documentation."

How
Open-Source Software Can Affect A Company's Value
"Open-source
software is an increasingly popular software development and
distribution model that may spread further in the face of financial
constraints in our current economy. With publicly available source code
generally offered without charge, it is tempting to look to open source
for potentially significant cost savings in this time of need."

Ten KDE 4
Tricks Worth Knowing About
"Up
until a couple of months ago, I was a devout KDE 3.x user. KDE 4,
despite being out since January 2008, never appealed to me for various
reasons, and from comments I've read around the Web, I know that I was
far from being alone."

Packages
and KDE 4.3.4
The development
continues around building packages for the next project. During last
week I continue the compilation of several packages and also tested
some applications. During this weekend I will start to compile some
applications for the recently relese KDE 4.3.4. I have already download
packages from Slackware. After this step I will finish some ISOs for
tests, also starting with KDE.
