Boycott Ubuntu

"Up until Shuttleworth's comment I defended men's rights to freedom of speech. Beyond that I was barely interested in feminists topics. I worked in male dominated areas all my life and I guess I just accepted that's the way men are. They tell their dirty jokes, they hang their stupid posters, they flirt, and condescend a little."

GNOME 2.28 - the dawn of a new era

"Version 2.28 sees the team behind the GNOME desktop environment for Linux and Unix warming up for version 3.0, scheduled for a March 2010 release. The current release continues the tradition of dotting lots of i's and crossing plenty of t's, but also brings a new broom to a few nooks and crannies."

KDE4 Against Posixovl

The G:Standard will be released without an importante feature, the possibility to run inside FAT32 formatted pendrives because we found an issue running KDE4. KDE4 does not start if we use Posixovl to save changes inside any device. I have tried save changes inside a FAT32 and NTFS formatted partition and usb devices without luck. It looks like a problem we will only solve when a new Posixovl is released. The best way to use G:Standard is formatted the pendrive using ext3 or reiserfs. There is also the possibility to create a second partition inside the pendrive to be used to save/restore changes and the rest the pendrive formatted as FAT32 which will allow access to files on Windows machines.

Linuxish Will Be Replaced

GoblinX users, I have just received the above information from Akuna:

Akuna said: “Just to let you know that I made a new mirror for Goblinx which you will find here:  http://goblinx.simplynux.fr/. I will close the old linuxish.net server sometimes soon, so you may want to migrate all your reference from the older mirror to the above link whenever possible.”

Remove all references to Linuxish by replacing the repository for the new Simplynux.
For Slapt-get you need to edit the /etc/slapt-get/slapt-getrc file and remove the following line: SOURCE=http://goblinx.linuxish.net/goblinx-current/.

You can also add the new repository line: SOURCE=http://goblinx.simplynux.fr/goblinx-current/.
The Simplynux is already working.
