GoblinX Newsletter Ed.218 09/20/2009

Note

The new development process will start next week with the compilation of all GNMOE 2.28 related upgrades. Some libraries, applications and scripts will change. Cairo, Pango, GTK+2, Glib2 and others need a upgrade in order to prepare our system for the next GNOME. We hope we can release the GNOME upgrade faster in the future. About KDE, we will continue using Slackware packages. XFCE will be prepared to become another desktop for netbooks with the addition of Moblin packages.

Editor's Note: Sexism in FOSS

"Let's begin with what this is not about. It is not about war, hunger, poverty, or any of the other evils of the world. It is not about racism, ageism, xenophobia, non-Free software, closed hardware, Microsoft, or any of the other problems in FOSS."

The Role of Free Software in Education

"On 19 September, we celebrate Software Freedom Day. At tomorrow's Boston gathering, I will have an opportunity to thank the Free Software Foundation on behalf of Sugar Labs for their support. I will also have a chance to tell the story of Sugar, our efforts to help children learn to learn and learn to love and exercise their freedom. I will also solicit your help."
