Start GoblinX without a firewall.

Where are gcc and the headers files?

Gcc, make, headers and other programs used to compile applications are not included in GoblinX ISOs. If you download GoblinX Standard, Mini or Micro, you also need to download the a.Includes module which contains the headers, you can download gcc, make and many more in our repositories, or the a.Devel module.

Can I use swap memory?

Yes, if you already has a swap memory partition it will function from boot. You also can create a file for memory swap with the command fileswap, just typing fileswap followed by the desired value in any terminal, for example: fileswap 256. Please note swap memory is slower than the memory Ram but it is recommended that you set this up.

Why sometimes when I try to logout from Xfce, I cannot see shutdown or reboot options?

These options to reboot or shutdown are part of Xfce4-session, the session manager of Xfce, if you start Xfce by using startx command you are going to log into Xfce without Xfce4-session, if you wish to use these features you must log into Xfce by using ‘go’ command.

Why modules use .mo or .lzm extension?

The .mo and .lzm extension are ideas by Slax and as many livecds are build by using linux live, those livecds are able to use modules created for the other. You can use Slax modules with GoblinX, so we use the same extension. Modules are compressed by SquashFS and you can use another extension if you like.

Webmount is a protocol to let you use modules from the web without downloading them. In order to use webmount you need to start Firefox and find a link like: webmount://mirror.live-modules.org/xgames-0.3-i486-1.lzm

Or change the ‘http://’ protocol of the web address for ‘webmount://’.
