g:Micro

Introduction

The g:Micro Edition formely known as GoblinX Micro is the smallest distribution and contains only Fluxbox as windows manager and GTK/GTK2 based applications. The edition is ideal for those users whose like to do fast tests, know more about Fluxbox and rebuild the livecd.

The g:Micro is mostly created to help us to develop better and small applications that can be used for all small windows managers such as Fluxbox, and also prepare the livecd without the less necessary files we can find.

About Micro Edition

The g:Micro includes the stripped modules a_Mcore.lzm, a_Mlibs.lzm, a_Fluxbox.lzm, a_Mapps.lzm, z_Micro.lzm and z_Muser.lzm and some modules included also in g:Standard like a_Kernel.lzm.

If you install g:Micro you will need the headers in order to compile other applications. Get the include module (headers) of your g:Micro version in our repositories.

The ISO image is less than one hundred megabytes of size, but the distribution contains an excellent source of applications. The small size lets you easily download and also remaster the ISO file, which makes g:Micro more suited for users whose want to have their own costumized GoblinX distribution.

The edition also is being used for testing and all applications not based on QT libraries can be tested first by the g:Micro and then these tests will make the bigger distributions much more stable.

It also designed to be our more portable livecd and to help the development of interfaces that can be used for all windows managers.

Try out the g:Micro, make it your small Linux LiveCD and save memory, you can also use a minicd to burn it and some other devices.

The g:Micro contains some of the most often used and praised applications for Linux, even though it is less than one hundred megabytes of size. Some of these best Linux applications included are: Firefox, Gcalctool, Totem, Gimp, Hardinfo, Audacious, Evince and more.

In comparision with g:Mini, the g:Micro does not include man pages, extra languages, office software like Abiword and Gnumeric, 3D libraries and applications like Compiz and Mesa, Pidgin and some other programs. Only english support for now is available.
